Gisborne Area Mobile Voice & Broadband

With most things in life, there is a saying “Location, Location, Location”, but when your location is literally just around the corner from the local tower but there is a hill in the way, you need to find a different tower to access mobile broadband and mobile voice. That was the case with this client.

Essential Communications Services was called in to assess and locate the closest tower to be able to access both mobile voice and broadband services. Luckily the position had a fairly clear line of site to another tower located 10km to the south of the property. The only issue was that it needed a 5m mast atop their carport to reach the signals coming from that tower.

To successfully access the signal we installed a Galvanised Serviceable 5m Mast to the carport roof. Atop the mast, we installed an RFI 15dBi Dual Band Yagi antenna for mobile voice and an XPOL 700-2700 MiMo antenna for mobile broadband. We then encased three lengths of LCU400 Coaxial Cable in corrugated conduit, to preserve it from the native wildlife (cockatoos are notorious for chewing through cable) and give it some further protection from the elements.

The client had chosen to go with a Telco T1 Outdoor Modem strapped to the mast. This allowed them to have WiFi coverage outside without having to install an outdoor WiFi unit. This was then ethernet cabled down to a Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch which then distributed the mobile broadband signal to two Ubiquiti UniFi AC LR Access Points.

The RFI 15dBi Dual Band Yagi was connected to a Nextivity Cel-Fi GO and an RFI DAS Omni Directional Ceiling mount antenna to distribute Mobile Voice signal throughout the building.

All in all a successful installation with the client having full five bars of Telstra mobile voice signal and a great speed with Optus Mobile Broadband.
